The Beatles
The Beatles were an English rock band formed in Liverpool In 1960. It is the best-selling band in history with estimated sales of 800 million records worldwide and it’s also widely considered the most popular and influential band in the history of popular music. The band was integral to pop music evolution into an art form and to the development of the counterculture of the 60s. The Beatles received seven Grammy awards, an Academy award and fifteen Ivor Novello Awards.  Not only that, but the group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1988. The members of the band are John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. They started by playing in clubs of Liverpool and Hamburg in 1960 and by early 1964 the Beatles became international stars. From 1965 onwards, they produced increasingly innovative recordings, including the albums Rubber Soul (1965), Revolver (1966), Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (1967), The Beatles (also known as the "White Album", 1968) and Abbey Road (1969). The band disbanded in 1970 due to different artistic visions, death of their manager and the resignation from touring. After that each of the four members enjoyed success as solo artists.
The success of the band lays in it’s members.
John Lennon was a peace-activist who initially played in the band called the Quarrymen, which eventually became The Beatles after Paul McCartney joined him. His music was rebellious and his political views inspired many people, some of his songs were even adopted as anthems by the anti-war movement and the larger counterculture. After the break-up of the Beatles he continued working on his own songs which led to him being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice- as the Beatles member and as an individual singer-songwriter.

The discography of group includes 13 official studio albums published in 1963 — 1970 and 211 songs.

       John Lennon (1940-1980)

In 1956 John Lennon based The Quarrymen team in which John Lennon began to play the guitar with school friends. On July 6, 1957 John Lennon got acquainted with Paul McCartney who soon was a part of The Quarrymen. John Lennon came to the Liverpool art college. In 1959 The Quarrymen was mutated in Silver Beetles, and a bit later in just The Beatles. At first they did own cover versions of hits, and then began to write own songs. Gradually the group became popular in native Liverpool   then "Beatles" several times went to Hamburg where they played in night clubs.
On December 8, 1980 the musician was shot by Mark Chapman in the Central Park. The murderer made five shots in Lennon's back, having missed only once.
