The Forsyte Saga (adapted)

    The Forsyte Saga tells a story about a rich English family. Soames Forsyte, a very rich man, is married to the beautiful but poor girl Irene, who doesn't love him. Soames wants to live with her in his country house, away from other people, but Irene falls in love with the architect Philipp who helped their family to build a house.

 Soames doesn't like that and wants to ruin the love of Irene and Philipp. But, on the next day, Philipp dies in a car accident. Irene is very sad but she meets Old Jolyon Forsyte , the owner of the house, and they become good friends. At the end of the story Old Jolyon dies and leaves Irene a lot of money and asks her to take care of his son Young Jolyon Forsyte. Irene is very rich now.

John Galsworthy (1867 - 1933) Biography (adapted)

      John Galsworthy was a famous English writer. He was born in 1867 in a rich  family. Galsworthy's father died when his son was young, and Galsworthy got a lot of money.

   Galsworthy wrote many novels and short stories about the people's life of that time.
One of his most popular works is ‘The Forsyte Saga’. The book tells about the life of a rich English family, like his own.  Galsworthy got a Nobel Prize for his work.

 John Galsworthy was married to Ada Cooper. They had no children and lived together all their life. In 1967 the film ‘The Forsyte Saga’ based on his story was made and it became very famous and successful.
