The Wolf and the Fox
A Fox is sitting on the road and eating fish. A Wolf is running along the road; he sees the Fox. He is very hungry and asks the Fox to give him some fish. But the Fox says, «Go to the river, catch a fish for yourself and eat it».
«How can I catch a fish»? asks the Wolf. «It is winter. There is ice on the river».
«Make a hole in the ice and put your tail into the water», says the Fox. «The fish will bite
your tail. Then pull your tail out of the hole, and in this way you will have fish». So he goes to the river. He makes a hole in the ice, sits down near it and puts his tail into the water.
The Fox goes away and laughs at the foolish Wolf. The night passes, and the Wolf is still sitting on the ice.
In the morning many children come to the river. They see the Wolf and make a great noise. The Wolf is very cold and afraid of the children. He wants to pull his tail out of the hole, but he cannot! He pulls and pulls. No result! At last he makes a very strong pull....

Audrey Hepburn was one of the most graceful actresses of the film industry. Her debut movie in a leading role ‘Roman Holiday’ was acclaimed by the critics as well as the audience which shot her to fame. For this she even got the ‘Academy Award for Best Actress’ and many other awards. Her role in the movie ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s’ earned her much acclamation as an actor and the character of Holly Golightly which she played in the movie has set a benchmark in American cinema.
One of Audrey's most radiant roles was in the fine production of My Fair Lady. Elizabeth Taylor was also considered for the role of Eliza. Although playing a 21-year-old flower girl, Hepburn was actually 34 in real life.
She had made a total of 31 high quality movies. Her elegance and style will always be remembered in film history as evidenced by her being named in Empire magazine's "The Top 100 Movie Stars of All Time".

The Fox and the Goat
One very hot summer, when all the brooks are dry, a Fox looks for water to drink. He even goes into a farmyard, but the dog sees him and begins to bark, and the Fox runs away. At last he finds an old well in the field. When he comes to it, he sees that he cannot get to the water. He tries again and again and at last falls into the well. The water is not very deep and the Fox is glad to drink it.
Then he wants to get out but he cannot. The next morning a Goat comes up to the well. She sees the Fox there, and asks him, «Is the water good»?
«Oh, yes», says the Fox, «come down, my friend. It is so good that I am drinking it all the time». So the Goat jumps into the well. But the Fox jumps on the Goat's back, and a moment later is on the green grass.
«Thank you, my friend», he says to the Goat. The silly Goat soon understands that it is foolish to believe a cunning Fox.

Ian Fleming

Ian Fleming is a suspense-fiction novelist whose character James Bond, the stylish, high-living British secret service agent 007, became one of the most successful and widely imitated heroes of 20th-century popular fiction.
The son of a Conservative MP and the grandson of a Scottish banker, Fleming was born into a family of wealth and privilege. He was educated in England, Germany, and Switzerland, and he was a journalist in Moscow, a banker and a high-ranking officer in British naval intelligence during World War II, and foreign manager of the London Sunday Times (1945–49) before he became a full-time writer. After World War II he spent his winters in Jamaica, where he did much of his writing.
Casino Royale was the first of his 12 James Bond novels. Packed with violent action, hairbreadth escapes, clever spy gadgets, intrigue, and gorgeous women, the books became international best sellers. The Bond books gained wide popularity in the United States after the newly elected president, John F. Kennedy, named a Bond novel on his list of favourite books in 1961.
Bond became the prototype of the handsome, clever playboy-hero of the late 1950s and ’60s. Bond’s mannerisms from the way he liked his martinis (“shaken, not stirred”) to the way he introduced himself (“Bond, James Bond”) soon became famous around the world. All the Bond novels were made into popular motion pictures, although many deviated from Fleming’s original plots.

“Bond, James Bond.” 007 (Sean Connery) delivers the iconic line for the first time to Sylvia Trench (Eunice Gayson) in DR. NO (1962)

Vladimir Nabokov was a prolific, trilingual Russian-American novelist, poet, professor, and translator. He was born on April 22, 1899, in Saint Petersburg, Russia, the eldest of five children. Out of his younger siblings, Sergey, Olga, Elena, and Kirill, Vladimir was the clear favourite and was idolized by his parents. His father, Vladimir Dimitrievich, was a progressive politician and journalist. Nabokov’s mother, Elena Ivanovna, was a wealthy heiress and granddaughter of a gold mine millionaire.
Young Nabokov had an idyllic childhood. He grew up in a wealthy, aristocratic, and loving household, speaking three languages (Russian, English, and French), which would later prove fruitful as he worked as a tutor to support his writing. The family spent their summers in the countryside. Nabokov was taught by governesses and tutors, as was the custom for children of the upper class.
Nabokov is remembered as a literary giant, celebrated among his field for his intense intelligence, his relishing of the phonetic complexity of language, and his intricate, shocking plots.

Agatha Christie, was an English crime fiction writer. She also wrote romance novels under the name Mary Westmacott, but is best remembered for her 80 detective novels and her successful West End theatre plays. Her works, particularly featuring detectives Hercule Poirot or Miss Jane Marple, have given her the title the 'Queen of Crime' and made her one of the most important and innovative writers in the development of the genre.
Christie has been called — by the Guinness Book of World Records, among others — the best-selling writer of books of all time, and the best-selling writer of any kind together with William Shakespeare. Only the Bible sold more with about 6 billion copies. An estimated four billion copies of her novels have been sold. UNESCO states that she is currently the most translated author in the world with only the collective corporate works of Walt Disney Productions superseding her. As an example of her broad appeal, she is the all-time best-selling author in France, with over 40 million copies sold in French (as of 2003) versus 22 million for Emile Zola, the nearest contender.
