Home assignment for Friday, October 03, 2025 (with Vladimir Vl)
Unit 9 "Town"
Orally
1. Text "St.Petersburg" on page 33 to listen to the speaker, read at the speaker's speed. Be ready for the SECOND (!) control reading of the text as the first one was close to failure.
2. Review grammar for the midterm: quantifiers (esp. few/a few, little/a little), question formation.
3. As I am going to source midterm assignments from audio material (Bad things done to siblings, Driving safely, Light house keepers mystery), listen to all of them one more time. By now you should know them very well. PAY MAXIMUM ATTENTION to the following structures from "Driving safely...": you are nearly ten times more likely to have an accident if..., reaching down for smth makes you nealy 5 times more likely to get into an accident, chances are that... AND ALL SORTS OF RELATED QUESTIONS LIKE: How likely are you to have an accident if..., What is the likelihood of you having an accident if..., By how much does the likelihood of a car accident increase if... etc.
In Writing:
1. Write a script for the second (!!!) part of the Lighthouse keepers story. Retell the whole story as close to the text as possible. Here is the link (there are 2 parts):
