Every cloud has a silver lining

This saying is somewhere in the previous posts of yours, DAS. When I sometimes go through this branch to see what's what I come across it. And I always like it.

I came across this proverb in my childhood. And I haven't forgotten it ever since

Save Face

To be able to hide public disgrace by taking some action.
To be able to correct an action that could have caused embarrassment.

I managed to save face by being able to speak about the topic, the presentation that was made was really not good.

You can’t save face by showing up with a gift. You should do better by accepting your mistake and working on not making it again.

A very adequate translation! But how about a set expression?

Some Russians occasionally say "Держись там". However, to be frank, it seems I don't know such expression and whether it exists or not.

A wonderful picture and a wonderful piece of advice! I wonder if we have an expression like this one in Russian.

Hang in There

wait, be patient till things work out
don't give up
be persistent in face of difficulties
keep trying

Though you are not getting the results you expected to, just hang in there, hard work always pays off.
I know you have gone through a lot of difficulties, but hang in there, things can only improve from here.
Their marriage was breaking apart, but they decided to hang in there and give it another chance.

Walk on Eggshell

to be careful about one's words or actions around another person

Whenever Lisa is around the house, everyone has to walk on eggshells around her in order not to get her annoyed.

David is so sensitive that all his friends have to walk on eggshells around him.

Viper in Bosom

a person who deceives you after receiving help from you
an unappreciative friend

I got my friend a good position in my company and all he did is convinced my manager to get him the designation I had in the project. He was no more than a viper in my bosom.

caught  between two stools

come between two alternatives, and so fail to fulfill either of them

This book cannot be an academic one nor can it be a popular commercial one; it falls between two stools.

Do not try to be both a teacher and a friend to your students; you would be caught between two stools.

A very useful idiom which could really be enjoyed as the name of the branch suggests we should do.

I was aware of this idiom before but after having added it to this branch I started to use it more and more often.

Ups and Downs

good times and bad times
Every relationship has its ups and downs. It is important to stick it out.
Our company has had a lot of ups and downs over the years.

A very useful idiom which could really be enjoyed as the name of the branch suggests we should do.
