Autumn vs. fall
(http://www.cottontraders.com/content/ebiz/cottontraders/page/thread-10-11-2014/walk-3.jpg)
Fall and autumn are both accepted and widely used terms for the season that comes between summer and winter. Some who consider British English the only true English regard fall as an American barbarism, but this attitude is not well founded. Fall is in fact an old term for the season, originating in English in the 16th century or earlier. It was originally short for fall of the year or fall of the leaf, but it commonly took the one-word form by the 17th century, long before the development of American English.
Autumn came to English from the French 'automne' in the 15th or 16th century, but it didn’t gain prominence until the 18th century. After that, while fall became the preferred term in the U.S., autumn became so prevalent in British English that fall as a term for the season was eventually considered archaic. However nowadays British people, too, use the term 'fall' by a significant margin

Westonbirt National Arboretum, Tetbury, Gloucestershire
(http://www.robertstravelgroup.co.uk/images/itinerary/trees.jpg)
No shortlist of woodland autumn glories can be complete without Westonbirt. A world-class arboretum with around 2,500 different tree species, it was created in the mid-19th Century when the Victorian thirst for exotic botanics was at its height. Westonbirt is on fire from September to November but peaks during October when the maples are at their height. The 600-acre site has 17 miles of paths and is divided into three main areas: the Old Arboretum, the ancient woodland of Silk Wood, and the Grade I-listed Downs grassland.

Grizedale Forest, Hawkshead, Lake District
(http://i.imgur.com/Kwlo6.jpg)
Located between Lakes Coniston and Windermere, Grizedale is a great place to experience the Lakes in all their autumn glory. Larch, oak, elder and beech provide a backdrop of fiery colour to the forest’s famous woodland sculptures. Their creators include luminaries such as David Nash and Andy Goldsworthy and range from giant birds and mythic figures to a trompe l’oeil elephant on a rock. The sculptures are linked by a series of waymarked cycle and walking trails.

Besides being a very beautiful time of the year autumn is also the time when Nature gives us food on which we live during three other seasons of the year.

And we also thank ourselves for being thrifty and prudent.

This autumn is quite cold. I wish they switched on the central heating already.

Autumn is going to last and last this year.....
And it's becoming too tiresome.

And it's becoming too tiresome.
Many people share this point of view these days.
-
Fall, Leaves, Fall
Fall, leaves, fall; die, flowers, away;
Lengthen night and shorten day;
Every leaf speaks bliss to me
Fluttering from the autumn tree.
I shall smile when wreaths of snow
Blossom where the rose should grow;
I shall sing when night’s decay
Ushers in a drearier day.

SONG FOR AUTUMN
Don’t you imagine the leaves dream now
how comfortable it will be to touch
the earth instead of the
nothingness of the air and the endless
freshets of wind? And don’t you think
the trees, especially those with
mossy hollows, are beginning to look for
the fires that will come—six, a dozen—to sleep
inside their bodies? And don’t you hear
the goldenrod whispering goodbye,
the everlasting being crowned with the first
tuffets of snow? The pond
stiffens and the white field over which
the fox runs so quickly brings out
its long blue shadows. The wind wags
its many tails. And in the evening
the piled firewood shifts a little,
longing to be on its way.

Autumn in Scotland
Scotland in autumn is the dream of many travellers, and no wonder. From the end of September into November the autumn landscapes are spectacular and colourful, with bright blue skies, fiery coloured leaves and air that smells crisp and earthy.
