Most young people go in for sports because the enjoy it.
Most older people go in for sports because they understand they must have some form physical activity.
To keep oneself physically fit,doctors recommend 30 to 60 minutes of exercise daily as a minimum.
The best activitities for this are running,swimming,cycling,and cross country skiing.
The sports program in the Russian Army is more than recreation and more than something which is meant to keep you physically fit.
It serves to inprove your physical fitness,to foster courage and self contorol,the hallmarks of a soldier.
The main sports in the Army are gymnastics,obstacle course,hand to hand fighting,skiing,hagh pace run and track and field events.
Besides these sports,which are a must for body,a serviceman can participate in a sport to his liking.
For this he joins one of the many athletic clubs which specialize in the following sports,football,basketball,handball,officers petathlone/gymnastics,cross country race ,shooting,swimming,skiing.
Nowadays karate is becoming very popular with the young serviceman.
Athlets in this field have alredy won a great nomber,of honours,for the Army,competing in the Moscow and Russian championships.
